Anthony Joshua has a**embled several American coaches as he believes his coaching approach will change after the defeat to Oleksandr Usyk the British heavyweight champion has faced calls to part ways with longtime coach Rob McCracken after losing his WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF titles to Usik last month.

Joshua has dated Virgil Hunter, Eddie Reinoso, and Ronnie Shields in the United States.

“I think he didn’t think it was the right [game plan against Usyk], so he wanted to make a change, hunter lives in Oakland, California, and has coached athletes such as multi-weight world champion Andre Ward and Amir Khan.

Joshua has close ties at Hunter’s camp with British fighter Joshua Buatsi, who also trains under the guidance of an experienced trainer.

Reinoso is known for leading boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez to the top of the sport, and the 44-year-old also coaches WBC featherweight champion Oscar Valdez and former rival Joshua Andy Ruiz Jr.

Shields, who lives in Texas, confirmed rumors that Joshua was looking for a new coach after inviting him to his gym this week they contacted me and asked if I wanted to look at AJ and that he wanted to come to Texas and see if things worked out between him and me,” Shields told ThaBoxingVoice. “I said, ‘No problem, I would like to see if we have a connection.’

“He said, ‘European boxing is different from boxing in the United States.’ He realized that he needed to come to the United States to get something else he told me, ‘Look, I know people don’t think I’m a dog. I have to be a dog in the next fight. ” And these are his words. He told me, “I just need you to show me how to be the best dog you can teach me.”

Shields has worked with a variety of heavyweight champions including Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield Jermall Charlo works under Shields and has posted several videos on his Instagram of Joshua talking to his coach and doing light workouts.

Joshua has yet to make a final decision on his coaching staff, which also includes a**istant coaches Angel Hernandez and Joby Clayton after losing to Ruiz Jr., Joshua added Hernandez to his team, and the 32-year-old could still stay with McCracken as his head coach.

The move to the United States will result in Joshua having to move his training headquarters from Sheffield, where he spent his entire professional and amateur career, McCracken has coached Joshua since he was an amateur, but has been heavily criticized for his game plan against Usyk.

However, Joshua was completely outcla**ed by Usyk and convincingly defeated after deciding to try and outbid the former undisputed heavyweight champion.
