The Joint Enrollment and Admissions Board (JAMB) has announced that the use of email will no longer be necessary for the registration of candidates for the Unified Tertiary Enrollment Exam and Direct Entry 2021.

JAMB Banned The Use Of Email For 2021 UTME Registration This was revealed by JAMB’s head professor, Is-haq Oloyede.

According to him, as of Thursday, April 15, 2021, candidates will no longer have to provide any email address during registration.

Oloyede said the new system was aimed at ensuring that candidate information is not exposed to dubious cyber café operators and other criminal elements who, in the course of UTME / Direct Entry registration, steal email passwords to commit fraud.

Oloyede said: “They gain access to the profiles of these candidates under the pretext of creating an email address for them. They then switch and block the candidates from getting messages from the board. They also blackmail them after they change their passwords.

He said that the phone number of the candidates is now the only important requirement to carry out all the registration processes.

However, Oloyede stated that the email address will only be requested when the candidates successfully complete the registration exercise. It is about updating your profile with JAMB since email will no longer be used as access to your profile, but as a communication tool with candidates. Candidates must provide their email addresses after JAMB registration closes via the methods below;

Regarding how candidates can access their JAMB profile, Professor Oloyede said that candidates will also have the following options to access their profile during or after registration.

I. Mobile application on the candidates’ phone
ii. Or through option 55019. He said that JAMB is working so that the candidates can perform the following task; verification of admission status, acceptance of admission, etc. sending SMS to 55019.
He added that the printing of the examination ballot (notification) or the results notification ballot can be done using only the JAMB registration number of the candidates.
