Last Kimmich Winner Takes Bayern Victory In Moscow

Champions League Cup winners Bayern Munich extended their winning streak in the competition to 13 matches on Tuesday night by beating Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1.

Leon Goretzka gave Bayern the lead when he encountered a volley cross from Benjamin Pavard to drive home hard from six yards.

Lokomotiv leveled when Anton Miranchuk deftly opened his body to fit Ze Luis’s center.

Midfielder Joshua Kimmich scored the final winning goal when he, at the corner, he launched a magnificent volley into the bottom corner.

Bayern have now won 34 of their 36 matches in all competitions in 2020 and coach Hansi Flick has won all 10 of his Champions League matches, with a total score of 40-5.

Lokomotiv, driven by a few thousand home fans, started stronger and should have taken the lead when the undisputed Fyodor Smolov headed straight for Manuel Neuer from six yards.

After Goretzka’s superb starter, Bayern grew in the game and dominated the rest of the first half, with Kingsley Coman coming close to extending his lead as his volley from 10 yards hit the post.

Unusually calm Robert Lewandowski received a penalty midway through the second half after a brilliant run through three players, but the decision was overturned by VAR for a tight offside.

Lokomotiv got a well-deserved draw as they finally capitalized on the space behind the Bayern defense and had more chances to surprise the starters, but they missed the ball and the final shot.

Bayern’s victory was a moment of true class, as Kimmich superbly controlled a very heavy pass before turning and volleying into the bottom corner, passing the entrenched Guilherme Marinato, from 22 yards.

Bayern have a five-point lead at the top of Group A, with Atlético de Madrid hosting FC Red Bull Salzburg in the other group match at 20:00 GMT.
