Imo State Police have  arrested a 40-year-old man, Uzoamaka Ugoanyanwu, said to be a notorious native doctor, who allegedly prepares charms for members of the Biafra Indigenous People, IPOB and members of the Eastern Security Network ( ESN).

 

 

Abutu Yaro, the state police commissioner, who confirmed the arrest, said police also arrested nine suspects who were involved in the attack on Governor Hope Uzodimma’s country house.

 

Yaro said the advance came after a thorough investigation carried out by the command’s tactical units and urged criminal elements still in possession of police weapons to return them voluntarily.

 

 

Let us remember that the Police, with the support of the military, thwarted a deadly attack on the Police headquarters on Sunday and killed five members of the ESN.

 

They also invaded the ESN camp on Monday in the Ikeduru council area, evicted the camp and rescued a female police officer who was held captive.

 

 

“In keeping with the mandate given to the IGP Alkali Usman command operatives to fish out all criminal elements in the state and restore normalcy in the state, we have declared war on criminal elements.

 

 

“On June 8, at approximately 4.30 p.m., command tactical teams through diligent and meticulous investigations, stormed Ukwuorji, Mbaitoli local government area, along the Onitsha road and arrested a native Ezeugo Ordu of Ubachima, Omuma, Oru West LGA.

He “He confessed to being a member of IPOB / ESN and made useful statements to the Police regarding the recent attacks against the police stations and the residence of Governor Uzodinma.

 

 

“In addition, he led the commando operatives to the IPOB / ESN camp, a bush near the Njaba river, 9 people were arrested at the criminal hideout while planning another attack, a variety of amulets were recovered from them.

 

 

“However, two of the 9 arrested at the hideout, Chinedu Nwakaire and Uzoamaka Ugoanyawu, the native doctor, were identified as part of the thugs who attacked the governor’s private residence recently,” he said.
