Pogba Threatens Legal Action Over Reports That He

Resigned From The France Team

Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba says he will take legal action after “totally false” reports said he was leaving international football. Pogba, 27, was reportedly resigning from the French national team over comments made by the country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, about Islam.

The winner of the World Cup, Pogba, who is Muslim, has 10 goals and 72 appearances for France.

“There is absolutely 100% unfounded news about me, saying things that I have never said or thought,” he said.

Writing on Instagram, he said that he was “appalled, angry, shocked and frustrated” that some outlets “used it to make totally false headlines” and “added the French team and my religion to the pot.”

He added: “I am against each and every form of terror and violence. Unfortunately, some people in the press do not act responsibly when writing the news, they abuse their freedom of the press, they do not check if what they write / reproduce is true, they create a chain of gossip without caring that it affects people’s lives and mine.

“I am taking legal action against the publishers and broadcasters of this 100% fake news.”
