Bordeaux French goalkeeper Benoit Costil (2nd R) and Bordeaux French defender Laurent Koscielny (C) claim the doctor as Bordeaux Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu lies on the ground during the French L1 football match between Olympique de Marseille and FC Girondins de Bordeaux at The Stade Velodrome in Marseille, southern France on August 15, 2021.
After Samuel Kalu collapsed, medics carried him on a bridge as concerned teammates formed a human shield around him. The teammates and his opponents all came to him for the guard just as they did for Christian Eriksen when he received a heart attack during Euro 2020.
The Nigeria player returned to the field minutes later, but he was still very dizzy, so he was replaced 14 minutes after his arrival.
