The Nigerian Football Association Denies Receiving

$ 1.5 Million In Covid Support From FIFA

The Nigerian Football Federation has called a report in “a harmful online publication” total falsehood that has received the 1.5 million dollars pledged by world football, governing body, FIFA, to all its member associations, such as palliative for the coronavirus pandemic that has devastated the world this year.

“The FIFA Council approved the sum of $ 1.5 million for each of its Member Associations as a palliative for the coronavirus pandemic (COVID19) around the month of July 2020. However, the writer said that the money was paid in May 2020.

“The report is a total falsehood and another pathetic display of ignorance on the part of the writer. The NFF has only received the $ 500,000 earmarked for the women’s game, and this fact is very easy to verify. A simple email to FIFA would have cleared up this problem, ”NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said on Monday.

“The palliative FIFA COVID19 is totally different from the operating cost money (annual grant) and it is not the same as the FIFA Forward money either. Yet in the rush to once again go to town with something negative, the writer was unable to draw the critical difference between FIFA’s annual grant and FIFA’s COVID19 palliative. It is a criminal defamation case that the NFF will not take lightly, ”said Sanusi.
