Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has signed for the first time with the club, Barcelona has confirmed on their website that they have reached an agreement in principle with Dani Alves as he intends to return to the club.

Brazilian defender will join the main team before the end of the season; he will train with the team, but will not show up for the match until January. Xavi’s new head coach has pushed the club towards the return of his former teammate as he needs an experienced hand.

In a statement on the website, FC Barcelona and Dani Alves have agreed in principle that the player will join the main football team before the end of the current season. The Brazilian will join training next week but will not be able to play until January.

Dani Alves initially signed in the summer of 2008 after five seasons in Sevilla during his first stint at Barcelona, the right-back had 391 appearances in eight seasons and scored 23 goals.

Alves, who is notorious for his attacking play from the right side of the field, left the Catalan club for Juventus in 2016 and has since played for Paris Saint Germain in France and Sao Paulo in Brazil.

Alves, who holds the record for most trophies won by an individual, have boasted 46 trophies for club and country; 23 won in Barcelona, Xavi will be making more signings by January to help change the club’s fortune and return to their traditional tiki-taka way of playing.
