League Final Postponed Due To Covid-19
The second leg of the African Champions League semi-final between Egypt’s Zamalek and Raja Casablanca was postponed a week after eight players from the Moroccan club’s team tested positive for Covid-19, the Football Confederation said on Thursday. African.
The club was quarantined for a week by Moroccan health authorities and denied permission to travel to Cairo for the second leg, which was scheduled for Saturday.
Raja has been told to isolate his entire team for a week and will only be allowed to leave Morocco after another series of tests.
“Faced with this situation, in order to protect the integrity of the competition and promote a spirit of solidarity, Caf agreed to postpone the second leg until November 1,” said a statement.
The other semi-final between Raja’s neighbors Wydad Casablanca and Al Ahly will be played on Friday in Cairo as scheduled. The final will still be played on November 6.
